STEP 3: Avoid The Pitfalls Of Credit Cards
Penalties are the biggest danger created by credit cards. If you go over your credit limit or fail to make a sufficient monthly payment on time, you'll receive a hefty penalty. So in order to avoid incurring such expense all that I can advise is to keep a close track of how much credit you have available on each of your cards. And to ensure that you always make payments on time it’s a good idea to set up an automatic payment from your bank account to each of your credit cards. There are three main options:
Number one: For the total amount to be paid each month. This will save on credit card interest but could give you overdraft problems if money is tight.
Number two: For the minimum payment to be made each month. This may be two or three percent of the amount owed, but will take an age to for the debt to be repaid and will waste an enormous amount of money in interest. Avoid this option if at all possible.
Number three: For a set monthly amount to be paid. But watch that this method doesn’t cause credit to build up on your account. A credit card is not a savings scheme, you won’t earn any interest for having a positive balance on your account.
